AXA UK and Ireland welcomes new retail insurance CEO

AXA UK and Ireland has today revealed that Tara Foley (pictured) will be joining the business as CEO of AXA UK Retail Insurance, starting from November 02, 2020, subject to regulatory approval. She will also be a member of the UK & Ireland Management Committee and will report to UK & Ireland CEO Claudio Gienal. Foley takes over from Laurent Matras, who will be moving to AXA Asia to become chief financial officer of AXA Tianping in China as of January 01, 2021.

Foley joins AXA following a 12-year stint at Lloyd’s Banking Group (LBG) where her most recent role was as MD of the Bank of Scotland and where she held a range of both banking and insurance positions, with an emphasis on customer experience and innovation. Before her roles within LBG, she worked at Deutsche Bank and Accenture.

Announcing the appointment, UK & Ireland CEO Claudio Gienal said that Foley’s depth of experience in transformational growth and operational efficiency, and her deep understanding of retail customer needs will be of great value to AXA. He noted that the team is looking forward to working with her in continuing to develop and execute its ambitious retail strategy.

Meanwhile, when commenting on her appointment, Foley said: “I am thrilled to be taking on this new role as chief executive officer of AXA Retail Insurance. These are interesting and challenging times, not just for our business but for all our customers. I look forward to working with the team to drive strategic business growth and constantly improving the customer experience.”
